what brings you joy?

I have waited so long to write this blog, afraid I'd miss out on recalling an adventure or happy memory. There were so many beautiful things in July. From traveling to Colorado for the first time to celebrating the weddings of some of the most important people in my life, the month was a whirl wind of laughter, fun, and maybe a few less hours of sleep than I needed. But, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. And the thing that keeps coming back to me as I reflect on all of the adventures is the overwhelming amount of joy that has followed. It's got me on this quest to answer the question what brings me joy?

To answer this question as simply as I can: nature and good friends.

Nothing brings me joy like being in creation and soaking up nature. There is something about the smells and sounds and sights that recenter my often wondering and worried mind and heart to the true Creator Himself. Though being in nature often makes me feel small, it reminds me how elaborate the tapestry of life is woven together leaving nothing unseen or cared for by the Father. And what joy dose that bring!

And friends! I have been blessed with some of the most genuine, kind, and faithful friends in my young life. And this summer I have been able to celebrate, reunite, and enjoy old and new friends. Early in the month I had a zoom call with friends from all over the USA, but have a joined love for volleyball and Jesus, who without fail leave me lighter and more full of joy. In Colorado I got to reunite with two of my closest college friends, embracing each other in a group hug as we celebrated new adventures and the joys life brings. When visiting home for a sisters wedding (yay, more celebrating!!) I got to spend time with a long time friend, picking up where we left off, sharing dinner and funny stories on an ordinary Monday night. And as the month comes to a close I was able to spend a lazy summer day driving through the country side to visit a cozy coffee shop and eat lots of yummy food with a friend who's helped make this new place feel more like home.

Every time I say goodbye after a long phone call or day of adventure together I'm always filled with joy.

As I have been reflecting on these things that bring me joy I hope you have been inspired to ask yourself the same question. To search for those things and chase them. I have found by doing so I am unlocking more about who I am and how these thing can influence my life decisions and inform my values.

Here's to joy filled smiles, hearts, and lives! What bring you joy?
