sometimes, it is in the little things
Just this past week I phoned a dear friend for a quick hello, which became a well rounded catching up and lasted my entire 45 minuet commute home. It was the kind of call that under all of the excitement and bustle of filling each other in on the latest we ever so silently told the other I believe in you. And you know what the beautiful thing is, I have been blessed with so many of those friendships. The friend who texts me the poem they wrote for me, or sends me a photo of their house because they know how much I would adore it. It is these little things that make me smile, and give me confidence. From these friendships I have found more and more how sometimes the smallest of things can mean the most. To celebrate such things I have a poem I wrote sometime ago about the little things, and the joy & life they bring.
Be about the small things
The wildflowers lining the roadsides
The glowing tapestry of the sunlight through the trees blowing in the wind
Swirling, constant breezes through car windows with the music loud
The tenderness of a forehead kiss
The kindness of a note written by hand
Gentle, soft awakenings in the mid of daybreak
Be about the little things
It’s okay to see the beauty in the world
To see it and hold it tight
To show it back to the world
Because those eyes saw something no one else did
They still do
You were created to
